Mastercam X2 Certification Curriculum

Below is a more in depth description of many of the requirements of Mastercam Version X Certification. Note that some of the steps etc. may vary slightly depending on location, corporate customization, and the incorporation of new features and functions within Mastercam.

Engraving simple letters on a single plane
Set up of machined part (includes multiple setups)
Machining of programmed part

End User Instruction Sheet

Applicant will be required to:

Part Creation

Create a 3D wireframe within 2 hours:
Create the part to a complete wireframe by any means possible using Mastercam software.
Importing of any of the geometry is not allowed.

Part Program Creation

Create a CNC program and support information for each setup within 2 hours:
Each setup should be referenced from Top Left of the part.
Mastercam Backplot time is not to exceed 15 minutes.
Each setup must have a distinct program group and name in the operations manager.
Each setup must have an individually posted program.
Each setup must have a printed sheet and tool list.

Part Verification and Machining

An STL file for each setup created by the verification process in Mastercam.
Each setup should machine the previous STL file (total 6 files).
Complete part to be machined to the blueprint specifications within 2 hours:
No feedrate changes at the machine tool.
Final part has machined finish and no sharp edges.
If a cutting tool is broken from programming error, the test is ended.
If the part is deburred, only use a file.  Maximum edge break is .01.
Surface finish will be 63 rms.

Applicant is to receive no instructions from anyone but the Test Administrator while performing this exercise.

Observe and follow all safe job procedures.

Materials:

1 shop drawing
1 End user instruction sheet
1 piece of stock aluminum.  Machined square to outside dimensions.
Tooling as required
