Still Haven’t Made the Switch to V9- Need Some Help?

Watch this video for some quick tips on how to get going in Mastercam X.

There are so many features that you have used for so many years, for instance Hot Keys, Interface, and toolpaths(just to mention a few) and you don’t want these features to change. Yes, the interface is different, but the toolpaths that V9 users are used to are still there–as are the Hot keys and a lot more! Mastercam X was designed to make your job easier with less key strokes and faster processing for toolpaths. We want to make it easier for you to give it a try.

Remember, Save up-to 70% by updating your V9 before 12/31/10. For more information on updating, please go here.

Solidworks Founder: ” Finally I understand what the CAM people have been talking about”

Jon Hirschtick, the founder of Solidworks, who runs the Solidworks blog, commented on the Solidworks/Mastercam X5 rollouts held by our fellow Mastercam dealer from New Jersey, Cimquest Inc.

He says in the blog post:

I learned a lot about CAM today.  Saw some demos of High Speed Machining.  Finally I understand what the CAM people have been talking about.  Very cool.  With simply upgraded software, machine tools can work approximately twice as fast with better quality parts and lower tool wear.

To read the full post and check out the rest of the Solidworks blog, please go here.

He’s talking about the new High Speed Mastercam toolpaths.  For our last news post on these new paths, go here.

Iscar and Mastercam: Video from 8/31 Event

Here is the part we cut at the Okuma Tech Center @ Morris Midwest:

I don’t have all the details, but this is a very fast feed rate and a very heavy depth of cut with standard tooling in tool steel. Much faster than traditional toolpaths. Please contact us if you have more questions on how to use these new toolpaths and how they can save your business enough time to pay for the software many times over.

Mastercam X4 Translators

We have had a good amount of customers asking us what they can and cannot translate via Mastercam.  If you are unable to translate a file, most likely you need to update your version of Mastercam.  If you are a current maintenance customer, please visit the download section of our website to obtain the latest version.  Customers that are not on maintenance please contact Matt to update to the current release (X4 MU3). Please see the image below.

You may notice that Catia, Unigraphics, and ProE are not included on this list.  We are able to translate these files natively, but those products charge a licensing fee for the translator.  Please contact sales to purchase a translator.

Stay tuned for the release of X5 and our list of updated translators coming soon.
